Because He was Baptized

So Are We!

It was a glorious day when Jesus visited John.

It was on that day that Jesus came to him and said,

“Baptize me,” for he knew this was a sign

Showing that man’s sins can be forgiven and their lives made pure instead.”

John forbad him, saying, “You should baptize me.”

And Jesus answered, “Suffer it to be so for it is meant to be so.”

So john baptized the Lord, with great passion and love.

Jesus rose straightway out of the water and lo,

The Spirit of God descended upon him like a dove.

As it lighted upon him, they all heard his fathers’ voice

Saying, “This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased,

John baptized with water but the Holy Ghost will cleanse you to make you rejoice.”

Jesus then explained, “You will be baptized by the Holy Ghost giving power and joy

as your burdens are eased.

Your hearts will be made free of sin causing you be bear witness of the Fathers love

To all that you see of the Father wondrous love, for it was meant to be.”

He also explained to them that he is the anointed one,

Saying, “All power on Earth and in Heaven is given to me.

Go and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of        the Father and the name of the son
