What Do we Fear Most?

DEATH looms overhead and can inundate the mind.

It leaves no peace; it allows no joy for it means we leave life behind.

It stands between us and our lives, causing loneliness and pain.

We look upon death as an evil thing for it cuts off life’s refrain.

Jesus must have felt this horror as he knew it was preordained

It was only through his death and resurrection that our hope for life was gained.

So he put his fears behind him as he humbly carried his cross.

Had he not taken that morbid trek up the hill it would have meant our loss.

He cried out from the cross as he hung there for you and I.

He did not hang upon the cross so we would never die.

He hung there so we would shed the fear that burns deep within our hearts.

First we learn to embrace our lord and then our reassessment starts.

He came to show us that death is not the end for it truly starts a life that’s new.

That is why he cried out from the cross, “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.
