As a boy I went with my father on hunting trips about this time of year. These are memories I have no wish to part with.

The Autumn Beauty

Leaves floating from the trees, dancing to and fro like snowflakes so light.

They are not white like the snow but colors of red, gold and yellow glimmering in flight.

The trees are putting on one final extravaganza before they sleep for the winter months.

I am reminded of trips with my father as a boy accompanying him on one of his hunts.

I watch the squirrels and rabbits as they prepare their homes for the long winter.

They instinctively know when the cold winds blow they will need a place to enter.

Have you ever traveled on a mountain range marveling at the wondrous colors from afar?

My Dad would take us on Skyline Drive and we would watch through the windows of his car.

It seems that every season has memories attached, reminding me of my loved ones who have gone before.

Though I cannot meet with them at this point in time, I will embrace them, of that I am sure.

Some people think that autumn is a time of dying but I see it as a cycle of life.

I see it’s beauty and I see it’s hope which causes my heart and soul no strife.

Take time, my friend to enjoy this season of the year

And share it with those that you hold dear.

Thank you, Lew, for sharing another lovely memory from your past. Sometimes it is sad to remember those good old days when we were young. Sometimes we wish they did not have to end...but like the seasons, life has its cycle. one day others will be thinking of us much the same as we are thinking of our loved ones today. But as you so gently reminded us, one day we'll see our loved one again!
Thank you for sharing this moment, Lew.

God Bless
Lena

Beautiful poem, I too have fond memories of autumn with my mother and grandparents. I cherish the memories that you speak of, it keeps the memory of our loved ones alive in turn giving us more to strive for....an eternal home of peace and joy with our family as the ages roll on. I love this time of year, it is a time of harvesting our garden, and I love to watch the squirrels running hither gathering for the winter...God's great nature and perfect plan is amazing is it not?
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
