Sing To Me

We all love, Love songs. We sing about heartbreak and we sing about patriotism. In this day and age, we feel self-conscious about singing abut God and Jesus unless we are in church. We feel strange about praying in public. Just this week a girl was chastised for reading the Bible in a school cafeteria.
Is it any wonder people are killing others with no excuse or reason? We need to turn back to God. He is calling.

Sing to Me

As a child who lies in his mothers arm I listen for a song.

The sound of her voice is a comfortable sound just knowing to her I belong.

I long to hear my Lord’s voice which sings songs of joy and comfort.

I listen for his voice and can hear it in the wind if I but make the effort.

He sings a special song of love as raindrops fall around me.

His song can be heard in the rushing waves as I sat by the sea.

His voice can be soft and subtle so I must listen so I hear.

He often speaks in a whisper, singing “I will hold you near.”

However, if I am not listening I may miss the sound of his singing.

I may not even notice the wonderful sound of the church bells that are ringing.

His voice is heard in every ring of every bell as it is in the beating of my heart.

If I but listen I will hear the knowledge which he will gladly impart.

The secret is to use my freewill, a gift which he has given to me.

But freewill is like a double edge sword for we build what will come to be.

If we use this will to follow our own selfish desire we have swung the sword the wrong way.

If we freely will ourselves to follow him, he will come to us that day.

And when the final trumpet blows and we are called home to stay

We will thank the Lord that he guided us along life’s treacherous way.

Excellent write Lew...however, they may silence the voice, but they can never wrestle the song from the heart....enjoyed this piece.

Indeed it is a perilous journey and to have God as our guide and always at our side we can weather all that life can throw at us but be vigilant in prayer.

And the single blast of that heavenly trumpet is the tune we believers look forward to hearing the most.
