The Car Wash

My wife and I took the car to the wash and turned on the powerful spray.

We worked together to clean off the dirt but no matter how hard we worked some of it would simply stay.

When we turned off the water, we grabbed some wet towels and frantically began to scrub and clean.

However, no matter how hard we worked there were still spots to be seen.

We finally gave up because of sheer exhaustion and decided the car was clean enough.

But I still found myself looking at the dirt, tempted to grab another cloth with which to buff.

We finally both decided that we would live with the small amounts of debris stuck to the car because it was much cleaner than before

We agreed that we would say the job is done well enough.  There was no need to do any more.

Now, I look back and realize that our lives are like our car.

Our Lord Buffs, and polishes and works for our souls but he does not wipe away every mar.

He has the wisdom and knowledge that we live in a world of sin and doubt.

So, he says, “I will wipe away the important sins and the residue will teach you what life is about.

Christians are not perfect.  Christians are forgiven.
