Chasing the Sunset

Living for God is like chasing the sunset. You never quite make it. I have noticed that the sun sets too fast and before long there is another sunrise. God is like the Sun. His presence cultivates life. Not must life, but eternal life. I thank God for his presence and his love.

Chasing the Sunset

It is a long journey between birth and death

There are so many things that must happen between your first and last breath.

One thing I know about death and its sting

Is it not so much pain but a beautiful song to sing?

Sometimes it seems as if I am chasing the sunset.

I see it from far away but never up close and this is my regret.

My common sense tells that like life, when I touch the Sun

This will be symbolic that my earthly life is done.

So, though I chase the setting sun I am in no hurry.

My Lord walks with me, teaching me not to worry.

He touches my heart as the rays of the sun touch my skin.

He heals my soul of corruption and sin.

He loves me though I cannot figure out why.

But his love frees my soul as the Holy Spirit cleanses with a sigh.

He never lets me forget this love is forever.

He stands beside me through good times and bad and leaves me alone never.

This is my faith and this is my song.

God teaches me each day what is right and what is wrong.

When I have learned all that he has to give

I will not need this life for in eternity will I live.

What I like about your learning, Lew, is your sharing...from the heart. It drips like honey...sweet, sweet stirring of the heart. How can anyone not taste the sweets of Him who lives within your heart? Keep writing, my friend. I'm inspsired...and so are many others who hear His voice. Thank you.

God Bless

Are you referring to the hymn here, Lew? 'Death, where is thy sting?'
In my walk with God I often find the sun has disappeared over to the other side of the hill. This is because of my clouds of self indulgence, forgetfulness of God and inferior prayer life. When I realise, then I dont sit and wait for the sun rise, I then chase after it. Another decotional poem for me to profit by, thanks.

God is so good to us and he has been totally praised in this poem. May God bless and keep you in his wings of love always. Keep writing such true and real things of him like you do and let no one deter you from this.

God keeps on giving and giving--It is never done--There is always more to come - Some die young - some live long lives - Why this is a mystery to us but to God there is a reason. You are not perfected me thinks or else He takes the young for if not they would live to commit grave sin and thus their soul be lost. He wants every soul with him; the devil likewise; One for good the other for evil me thinks God Bless. Have a good journey. Marguerite
