Have you ever felt like God was far away and you try to bring him closer but he seems to be avoiding contact? If so, have you ever thought that it may not be God who is avoiding contact. It may be your own willful blindness. I have! I know that whenever I feel that God has neglected me, I am wrong. Those are the times when I have turned from him. I will feel the loneliness until I turn back to my Savior.

Seeing Through Earthly Eyes

Where are you Lord, for I cannot see?

But I hear your words… you speak to me.

If I cast my eyes in your direction

They are immediately blinded by your brilliant reflection.

How can I see you if I am blinded by your light?

This could, indeed be my greatest plight.

These were questions that I once asked of you.

Until one day I found the answer true .

I watched the waves of the ocean break.

I saw the first morning light as the world did awake.

I saw you in the leaves hanging on the trees

And I felt you in the early morning breeze.

You are the clouds and the sky of blue.

You are the colors of autumn when the summer is through.

You are in every snowflake which floats from the sky.

These are all things to behold with human eye.

You are here and there and everywhere.

I see you in mountain lake or the desert dry and bare.

You show yourself in so many ways.

Each part of nature proclaims your power throughout my days.

Where are you Lord, for I cannot see?

This is a question lame and it reflects on me.

For if I cannot see you it is my own blindness which punishes my spirit.

If I can look I can see and if I listen for your voice I will hear it.

Your heart for God shines through your poems, Lew. God is everywhere; we can't miss Him. He watches us all the time, too. And when we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.

God Bless
Lena

Dear Lew,

When we search with the heart, we discover all things seen and unseen. The bird does not ask the air to come closer, nor does the fish ask the water to come closer. The Creator is just as close to us (I believe within us).

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*
