Jesus summed up the Ten Commandments into two. He came to simplify and he did. “Love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and all thy soul and all thy mind and love thy neighbor as thyself.” I don’t believe he meant do this and you have salvation. I think he meant if you have salvation, you will do this. So the Ten Commandments or the short version spoken of above mean, if I find myself not doing this, I need to pray to God for I do not yet know him as I should.

Today

Today, you know was yesterday’s tomorrow!
It is tomorrow’s yesterday carrying memories of happiness as well as sorrow.
As tomorrow becomes today it creates a new tomorrow.
Our time on Earth must be more than something we simply borrow.

So what of this thing called passage of time?
Is it simply a slow voyage with not one reason or rhyme?
What of this life we live through all our today’s”?
Why is it that our yesterday never stays?
What do we look for in our tomorrow or all the days that come?
Are they simply a constant beat of a distant drum?
Do we make the most of each day we live?
Do we find the time to care and to give
To those who are needy and poor and deceased?
When our today is yesterday can we feel that we have eased
Their pain and given them hope?
Have we simply lived selfishly for ourselves as we blindly grope
For anything to foster our own sense of comfort.
Is it possible we just do want to make an effort?
Or can we possibly change someone’s tomorrow?
Bring happiness into their lives and cast out their sorrow.
This would also make a glorious change for us today.
When tomorrow morning sees the first of the suns rays.
A brighter today made by something you did yesterday.
