Remember that story about Aladdin? He rubbed a lamp and out came a Gene who said he could have three wishes. My grandchildren really loved the Disney movie about that. Aladdin wanted to become a Prince so he could marry the beautiful Princess. His wishes lead him on an adventure he did not ask for. Our prayers are like that. My mother had a saying she loved to use. “Be careful what you wish for, you may get it.”

I have been having a dialogue with a Sister in Christ that has lead me to look deeper within myself for answers. It is a wonderful sharing between Lena and me. Now I invite anyone who wants to join. I have asked myself many times, “Why not simply ask God to heal my heart and I would no longer need so much medicine?” He answers for me. If I ask for worldly gifts, good health, treasures, lots of money. They will only last for a while. If I ask for Heavenly gifts they are forever. That, my friends means eternity. What good would money do in Heaven? If I begin to love money too much it may stand my way. I wrote the following because I think the Lords Prayer is beautiful and comforting.

He Taught Us How to Pray

Jesus gave us a guideline to follow when we pray.
We should first remember to bow our head and then begin to say,

“Our Father, which art in Heaven”

Acknowledge him as our Lord, God and Creator
Someone who is with us now and who we know will be with us later.

“Hallowed be thy name”

Praise the Lord with all thy heart and all thy soul and thy entire mind.
Praise him with all the spiritual energy that within your heart you can find.

“Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven”

We pray for a seat in his Heavenly kingdom.
That is why we ask for it to come.
We also ask that God’s will be done.
This is made possible because he gave his son.

“Give us this day our daily bread.”

Ask yourself this. If you ask for materialistic food will tomorrow again bring hunger?
You will wake up again one day older and wishing you felt younger.

“Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors.”

This, my friend the true bread of God, our love for his only Son.
Once we learn to forgive and love our Spiritual war is all but won.

“Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil”

When we feel the need to do something wrong
Let us pray to God or sing a spiritual song.
For the temptations are great and our soul is weak.
And when the evil doer would lead us astray it is unto the Lord we need to speak.

“For thine is the Kingdom and the Power and the Glory”

Once again his prayer leads back to acknowledging him,
Praising him and asking for spiritual bread from which all good deeds do stem.

“Forever, Amen!”

He did not ask us to pray for things of this world because he knows they soon pass away.
He instructed us to ask for spiritual strength to face each and every day.
It is for these things our Heavenly Father wants us most to pray.
