Jesus once said, “Except ye be as little children you cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

It warms your heart when the baby first makes eye contact.
He is becoming aware of the world around.
Any parent knows of the wonderful impact
Of his smile when he looks or responds to your voices sound.

The child will grow older and his world will expand.
He will watch flowers in bloom and examine the sky.
You have watched as he first learns to crawl and then stand.
If you watch closely you can see his mind asking questions like why.

Why are the skies so blue with wondrous clouds of white?
He witnesses his first spring, summer, winter and fall.
He is enthralled by the beauty of the butterfly’s flight.
His mind is inundated by the wonder of it all.

What is sad is that like us, he will grow to be old.
He will have little time to admire the Gods’ wonderful creation.
His childhood fantasies will die and grow cold
And he will become skeptical and sometimes not prone to elation.

Let us take a trip into yesteryear if we dare.
Let’s visit our past and remember the innocence.
Let us find our long dormant childhood eyes that stare
And wonder about the miracles that set just beyond the next fence.

Can we go back to our childhood when our faith was so pure?
Can we relish in the wonderful gift of Gods’ love?
Do we have the courage to open that magical door?
And walk into our past, bring it to the future and move above?

We can lift ourselves out of our world of worry
And love as a child of God who has learned the secret.
We wait upon the Lord and live not in a hurry
But rather take time to enjoy every moment with no time for regret.

We are children of God and his arms are loving and strong.
If we reach for him as a child reaches for his mother
His immaculate love will carry us along.
He will teach us to love our sister and brother.

That is why he sent us his son. That’s why our Lord, Jesus was born
To take us all back to the innocence of our childhood.
To take us to a time when we did not question or scorn.
Embrace him like the child that we are and we will learn what is righteous and good.
