It is a real challenge to take God’s word and make a poem out of it. I do hope I did not take anything away from the meaning. This poem was inspired God and I truly believe that in writing it I actually was forced to capture the true meaning of Gods word. I hope you enjoy it.

John the Baptist came preaching and saying “Repent for the Kingdom is at hand.
For the only Son of God is coming to lift your sins away.”
John preached the word to all who heard from east to west throughout the land.
John baptized with water but soon, he said “Another comes to whom I will gladly pray.”

I am not worthy to bear the shoes of the mighty one who comes next to you.
He is much mightier than I and will baptize with fire and with the Holy Ghost of God.
When Jesus came to be baptized John proclaimed, “This I am not worthy to do.”
Jesus answered “Suffer it to be so now: for this we must fulfill for it is prophesied.”

Therefore John did baptize him and as Jesus came out of the waters, straightway
The heavens were opened and he saw the spirit descending like a dove.
Then heard them all the voice of God on this wondrous and glorious day.
“This,” he said, “is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased and love.

This my Brothers and Sisters is why we celebrate
Jesus came to save our souls and call us away from sin.
He came to make our blind eyes see before it was too late.
And now we pray to God the father and serve him once again.
