Someone sent me an email that is quoted like this. “Life is like a roll of toilet paper. The closer you get to the end the quicker it goes.” Well I laughed at the irony and then I began to consider this. Life is just like that. You could also liken it to a bar of soap.

Life is like soap on a string which hangs in my shower stall.
Each day I use a little soap to clean myself with the lather that it will lend.
I’ve been using it for a while and I see it is getting rather small.
Soon there will be nothing left but the string for the soap has come to its end.

This is not a bad way to look at life for if I can be like that soap which gives.
I can give a little of myself and help others see Gods holy light.
I can be a source of refreshing cleanliness and renewal as my brother lives.
I can share my love, my faith and share with others some of Christ’s insight.

In this way when like that bar of soap my life I have already given
I will have the honor of knowing that I have touched the lives around.
Someone will know Gods love through me and they will see their sins forgiven.
Though the string will hang empty, the soap of Gods love is proven to be profound

Perhaps my brother will leave the string hang there as a tribute to my life.
Perhaps the string will be there to console him whenever he felt he has lost a friend.
It may be reason enough for him to live through happiness as well as strife.
He will see the string and know that I am with God, the soap maker who has no end.
