We look back at youthful days and find that we did not accomplish the wonders we set out to fulfill. We look back and see why our world is in turmoil. It starts with each of us. We grow older and wiser but we truly do not have the energy we once had to try to make a difference. The best we can do is encourage our children to make life a better experience for them and those they meet.

When I was a young man I thought I had all the answers.
Now I know I only thought I did as my empty words stepped to and fro like dancers.

I look back now and see myself as a young man who was head strong and cock sure.
I realize that my answers were flawed even though my hopes were pure.

I pray to God and ask why I was so long in learning and so quickly growing old?
His answer is simple. “You were young and foolish and that is why you felt so bold”

I also ask the Lord if my children will be wiser before they grow old and gray.
His answer, “They must learn from experience as they live out each and every day.”

It seems that youth comes with bliss and that is a blinding light.
As we grow older we find the bliss will not stand through darkened night.

Each generation must learn for itself what their elders have learned before.
Nobody knows until they have experience it what life has in store.

The young would change the world and make it a better place.
Somehow the odds are greater that they only learn by the troubles they must face.

This is why we must remind them now that God is holding their hand.
He loves us all. He cares for us and our troubles he will understand.
