As part of Christmas my wife and watched the Movie, “A Christmas Carol.” I have always thought it interesting that the ghost of Christmas present says he has many brothers before him. It also is a thought provoking idea that his time is short. He never says this but it makes sense that once his life as the ghost of Christmas present is gone, he will become the ghost of Christmas Past. I would not be surprised if Charles Dickens didn’t have that very thought in mind. Each ghost of Christmas would someday become a ghost of Christmas present and very quickly become a ghost of Christmas past. Enough rambling. The movie and the book which I read years ago inspired the next poem

As the peaceful sunset ends another day
It passes on for it cannot stay.

Let not your heart become burdened with regret.
When it has run its given course it not something you forget.

Today ends its run as today but is reborn as yesterday.
It joins the yesterdays, each one which started as a today.

This is how our Earthly lives are laid out.
We live, worship God. His glory we shout.

Just after the sunset when the darkness falls
Our spirit hears the Master when he calls.

He proclaims you are no longer today
For I have another part for you to play.

Now you watched over your loved ones from Heaven above.
They will always know your undying love.

So if you lose a loved one do not suffer in misery
For you have more than their memory.

You know they are held lovingly in God’s arms, loving and strong.
Have faith for you will be with them before long.

Each day becomes a yesterday and each year is preceded by another.
We do not die but simply pass on to a place where we share joy with our sister and brother.

Trust in God and know his love for he will lead you through the night.
Know him and know his son who will lead you till the day comes when you too, take flight.

How we often reflect upon our childhood years which passed so fast.
We may even find ourselves asking God why they could not last.

Our childhood has passed away and we have grown up.
One day we will pass on with our Lord to sup.

So care not what each day may bring
For in your heart and soul you may sing.

Joy to the world, to Lord I have come and here I stay.
A place where there is no night or day.

A place of wonder and a place of joy and glee.
A place where I will gladly live for eternity.

Wise words, Lew. How I wish folk will take the time to ponder your words, for I believe these words speak a different message to the reader. There is so much that flows from your heart, my friend.

God Bless
Lena
