I think I may have mentioned this before but I will risk saying it again. Our life in the eyes of God would probably amount to a couple of seconds. God is for eternity but my physical body grows old and eventually will wear out. My spirit is a different story. It can live for eternity but only if I accept my Savior as my Lord and my God.
Now as I hit my golden years I find that I have grown old so fast.
I realize that life has left me with a mixture of memories.
Of days of youth that could not last.
I treasure many of those memories and dread some others.
I experience a feeling of deep exhaustion.
I remember fishing trips with my father and brothers.
I reflect upon the times spent with aunts and uncles and all my relations.
I simply remember some of them now, for they have already been called to the sky.
My mother and father are with God today as is my brother I pray.
For one by one my elders have been escorted to the sweet by and by.
I will treasure their memory until my Master says to me, “come, and do not delay.
I am calling your spirit to your heavenly home.
You will not know sadness for there is no place for it here.
This will be a home from which you never wish to roam.
You will never know worry and never know fear.
You will sup with the Angels and forever live free.
In Heaven there will be no restraints for they are not needed.
True happiness will be yours and once you have seen eternity
You will realize that your Earthly life was short but blessed for my words you have heeded.
One never knows...it seems that we litterally go to bed one night and get up the next day old! I can remember the day I found my first gray hair, stunned! The day my knee started making a dry sort of scratchy or creaky noise while going down stairs...hey that wasn't supposed to happen to me, not this soon! Oh this could go on and on...but you are right my friend it happens sooner or later, and it seems that it is sooner! But to be ready when the ultimate time comes...that's the final test.
great write with great advice,

Ya just never know...?
Spent all day New Years Day in the E.R., thought alot about life, with palpitations, feelings of doom, dizziness, etc...after many tests I was discharged with the diagnosis of anxiety related to pre-menopause? So what's up with that? I guess I have to get there somehow? Someday is here...shit!
oops! :)

Thank you for sharing this...I wanted to be forever young...but as gold turned to silver I guess i am getting there where the calling might come soon!!
And like "they " say....only the good die young...grrrrrr...better get my "act" together FAST...seriously!!
Another useful, thoughtful write, my friend. What we mortals call time is not the same as God's view of time. Still, we must do our part to be His extended hands here on earth, while we have the breath to do it. Regardless of our age, and some life to be over 100, time here on earth is always much too short.
Lew,
This is awesome. I have often thought that our life on Earth was only a breath, only a moment in time compared to God's time. It's how we use that moment that counts. You have used it wisely Lew. This poem is superb.
Timeless wisdom and advice on the art of living for today’s young and old: The art of thinking, the art of loving, the art of working, the art of leadership, the art of growing old.
