I ride the winds

When I was a boy my favorite hero was Superman. I imagined flying wherever I wished and I remember wishing that I truly could. That is where this poem came from.

Poem Artwork

They come to greet as I go outside.
They have come to take me on a wind swept ride.

The winds are cold but they are also kind.
They refresh my body and calm my mind.

As they push and tug upon me as I walk
I can swear that I hear voices as they talk.

I look up into the sky so blue and see fluffy white the clouds.
They move too and fro as they hover high up above the crowds.

The winds are churning the clouds up high and making the trees below dance.
I stand and contemplate as if I have fallen into a wondrous trance.

However the brisk winds will not allow me to fall asleep.
They instead lift me up far above the ground as if I had made a giant leap.

Now I fly high like a bird lifting far above the ground.
From up in the sky so high the wind is the source of the only sound.

It carries me toward a cloud of white as the wind continues to blow.
As I fly into the beautiful cloud I find it’s made of snow.

On and on I ride the winds, floating to and fro in the beauty of the sky.
The wind has shown me what it’s like to free as a bird flying high.

Then as I enter into my house once more my imaginative trip is ended.
It was a trip taken within my mind where gravities law can be transcended.

"We know not from where it comes or whence it goes". The wind is an invisible force that can both sustain and destroy. It's power must be respected.

I often have dreams about flying ... becoming One with the wind like the seagulls.

Love & Light always and in all ways,
Joseph*

You have quite an imagination, Lew. Yes, flying can be amazing. Have you ever flown in your dreams? I've done that so many times in my dreams. I would zoom towards the sky, sometimes accelerating rapidly. I could feel the wind in my face, and just when I could take no more pressure against my face, I would have to slow down to a comfortble pace. I visit all sorts of countries, and sometimes I return to the place where I grew up. The emotions I feel are oh, so real. And when I awake in the morning, depending on my flight experiences, I'm eight extremely happy or sad to have left my loved ones behind. It's extraordinary, really. Thank you for sharing.

God Bless
Lena

Fantastic write...I dreamed of flying when I was a child...I too loved to watch Superman, my brother had all the toys, well all that were available then, I used to sneak into his room when he was gone to school and play with them, it was a blast, until he found out! Enjoyed this much Lew, took me back a few, well no, took me back a number of years, hadn't thought about this in a long time!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
