This was inspired by another poet’s works. We all feel like life is a train wreck trying to happen sometimes. In truth, life is temporary. Eternal life does not belong to our physical body and we cannot expect to achieve it. Our spirit lives forever. Let us feed the spirit and know that to it comes eternity. Steve... This one's for you!

I am a captive, a slave and a prisoner restrained in flesh and blood. I long to fly and accomplish great things but it is on Earth where this body is stood. My greatest desire is to unite myself with my Heavenly Master on high. I vow to myself that one day I will do so but for now I stay with a sigh. Wherever this body goes, I go also and I will continue until God calls me away. I live for today but also tomorrow and all the tomorrows along the way. I serve the body for it is my master but then so is my Master in Heaven above. When my Earthly master would lead me astray, I will reach for God and his love I am a captive, a slave and a prisoner restrained by a physical restraint. So I will simply live out my days here on Earth without tears or cries of complaint. My day is coming when I will be freed and I will fly away with my Lord. I will have powers I never experienced on Earth and I will wield a mighty sword. “What sword is that?’ you ask of me now. “What powers will you know?” I will have the powers of my Heavenly Father and I will enjoy a Heavenly glow.

You speak much truth, Lew. I think, at times, we become to wrapped in the "here and now" that we forget to consider that the "here and now" is only temporary and that much goodness is set to come on the other side of Heaven's door.

So true, Lew. Our sojourn in this physical body is only temporary. What we have to look forward to is beyond words. Great write, as always.
