I will remember always the first time I accepted his love.
I was eight years old and I called for salvation from above.
Or was it when I was eight and a half that I truly knew
The love of God which would last my whole life through?
I think maybe it was when I was twelve years old
When I went to the river to be baptized… coming out of the water cold.
My sins were all washed away that day
And “I am Saved,” I stood proudly to say.
On the other hand I was probably twenty-one
Before the work of Salvation was truly done.
Do you know something my friend?
I really do not know for I fear the work is not yet at its end.
Life is a long process of bringing such salvation to us all.
We stand boldly to proclaim his love today but tomorrow we fall
And God in his love reaches down to lift us up again
So our reach for his love once more can begin.
When my brothers and sisters ask me if I am saved today
I usually just smile and softly say.
I am a work in progress for my Lord is not through working on me.
I will be saved on the day when my spirit is set free
And it flies upward toward the Lord God on high
While Angels sing for you see to gain Salvation it is in God whose forgiveness I rely.
Blessings,
Joyce B.
We truly are a work in progress.
