I wrote an article about Global warming. A friend sent an email to me saying she thought God is still in charge. She got me to thinking. Every time man tries to fix one problem he seems to create another. We have vaccines to ward off sickness but we seem to have created super germs. I believe we do need to follow our hearts and work to improve the world but we can do this best by following our Heavenly Fathers lead. That is where this next poem came from.

Oh dear… oh dear… oh dear what will become of me.

There is something hollow in that statement about a future we cannot see.

We worry about the ozone and skin cancer and problems with the heart.

Sometimes we worry so much it is hard to tell them all apart.

Yesterday when I went to bed I did not know if this morning I would awaken.

Had I dwelled too much on that possibility I would have been gravely mistaken.

The morning came and the alarm rang and another day had begun.

I climbed out of my bed brushed my teeth and said good morning to the sun.

This world in which we live has many problems and few who care or know how to fix them.

So I will let these burdens lay upon Gods broad shoulders and simply trust in him.

If I worry I simply cause my blood pressure to rise and put stress upon my heart.

If I pray each day and trust in him my day is off to a glorious start.

I do not know what my tomorrows will hold but I know the one who holds them.

The Lord, my God is in control so I will trust in him.

I ask nothing of my Lord for I know I need not ask.

His love is great and he will send me strength to handle any task.

So let tomorrow come and I will live it as another day unto the Lord.

God, I will give me faith and hope and let me share the word.

Im glad you got a letter Lew, I read that article, but didn't add a comment, though my thoughts were in accord with your friend.
SO I'm saying it now, ditto her encouragement, and do hold fast to the Lords hand, there's no other way out of this mess...

Grace and peace be with you

A superb poem with a wisdom message. I led a womens ministry in my church at one time. I had written a piece about worry, using scripture, but also contrasted the difference between worry and concern. It is normal to be concerned about some things, but worry is a waste. I gave them the dictionary origin for the word worry, and it says: to treat roughly the way a dog gnaws at a bone...we all were impressed to stop worrying;-)Thanks for sharing...Eileen
