One day I awoke and was sixty-two; going on sixty-three.
I asked God in Heaven to answer a question; how this did happen to me.
I was always meant to be young and virile; self-assured, courageous and bold.
Alas I blinked my eyes; it seems one day and suddenly realized I was old.
My youth was something I would maintain forever and I thought I knew I would never relent
Suddenly I know that youth is a temporary part of my life for before long it is sorely spent.
I have learned to accept my life as it is for what I had was a wonder to live.
Today it is even more wonderful for my family has grown and I now I know I was meant to give.
Give what? You may ask. I will tell you. I have passed on to my children my youth.
Today I realize that this was always my calling and a wonderful joy and that is the truth.
Where did my youth go? This you may ask and I will gladly answer with gratitude.
My youth was given to my own offspring and is being transferred to theirs thus we; none of us will live in solitude.
Life is all about giving
That is our reason for living.
just also in response to Karen Lynn..
there are plenty of schools who still have prayer.. I live in Australia and their are numerous schools near me who still practice religion as such. And those who dont? well times have changed.. we (youth) are very much a different generation and see the here and now.. we are wiser, more aware, and a more equal in terms of sex and race than before, and yes its true we are no longer dictated primarily by religion. to each his own :)
p.s. sorry if this sounds a bit rude.. just im writing a huge assignment on youth today lol so im kinda in the opinionated mood!
It is better to give than to receive; and it is in giving that we are born to eternal life.
To be young, again, would be great. I am glad to be *this* age. It's rather fun being old and wise. Not sure about the wise, but old for sure.
