There is an age old idiom my father used to say
“It is water over the dam. If you let it go, it will float away
Learn from your mistakes then let them go and they’ll float out to sea
And be washed clean in an ocean of forgiveness for all eternity
Let God’s Holy Spirit carry your sins away
Just bow you head and search you heart and never fail to pray
Forgiveness comes from those who love and those who care for you
If they can find it in themselves to forgive, then you should forgive, too
Don’t let your mistake cause you to fall for God’s loving grace is true
He has forgiven many of our mistakes and he will forgive you
