I woke up this morning and got a kiss from my wife
I was visited by grandchildren, the treasures of my life
There was sunshine peering between white fluffy clouds in a sky of blue
It was a day when I could do most whatever it was that I found I wanted to do
I sat quietly in the back and watched the squirrels playing in the Chestnut tree
My mind was relaxed and my heart was at rest and I felt no anxiety
Today was a day in which I could simply sit and contemplate life’s delights
I simply enjoyed each moment and gazed at the wonderful sights
Oh, there probably were a few nuisances but somehow I’ve forgotten about them
It would simply detract from the splendor of the day given to me from him
Him who? You may ask and I will proudly decree, “My Heavenly Father, my Lord, my creator
It was he who gave me life and love. A leading role in a world-wide theater
So I drink up the blessings that are part of my life and overlook the problems and frustrations
I will lift up my eyes from whence cometh my help and open my mouth with jubilation
