“No, no, you can’t do it that way”
That is what my friends did say
“Okay,” said I. “Show me the way”
But all they gave was counsel that day
Then I kneeled down before my God to pray
He sent to me his son whose advice I’ll obey
Because his advice was, “follow me. I’ll show you the way”
My life took the strangest, most rewarding change that day
So today I simply say, “Thank you, Lord,” when I pray
I accepted his council because he led the way
He relieved my burdens and carried them to the cross one day
It was the price of pardoning my iniquities that he hung there to pay
So I will praise Jesus Christ as the Son of God who I serve this and every today
