Worn out but Happy!

I keep waiting for all those wonderful things the TV advertisements say are supposed to happen when you turn sixty-five. So far... oh well! My life has already been one exciting ride

Poem Artwork

It is funny how this old mans’ mind works these days
I remember my sons’ very first steps but not what was for breakfast yesterday
I remember swimming in that cool mountain lake with my kids yelling, “Come on dad!”
Now, don’t think I am complaining you understand. It wasn’t really so bad
They wanted me to throw them up into the air so they could do belly-whoppers in the lake
Alas, even at an early age Dad would wear out first. There were three of them and only one of me, for goodness sake
I remember my daughters riding side by side and I was behind them pushing them high
I remember the sound of their voices as they chanted or sang a lullaby
Now, let’s see. Yesterday when I went to the store… did I pick up strawberries for my wife?
I couldn’t remember no matter how hard I try, I couldn’t remember to save my life
But I am reminded of my kids little voices in the voices of their five little offspring
They pound on the piano and dance around and sometimes they even sing
But what did I have for dinner last night? Come to think of it… was it Tuesday or Wednesday?
I believe I’ll simply sit back and relax and thank God for still another day

What a beautiful family! It's worth the ride after all!
Connie
p.s. I know you're right on about the memory, but I can't remember what I was going to say about it. 8-]
