When I was a kid there were no cell phones
Yet, somehow I never felt alone
I would pray to God for everything
And anything
From a shiny new bike to a new baseball bat
For the Yankees to win the World Series
And all kinds of things like that
Now that I am old my prayers have become prayers of sincere thanksgiving
Not because the Yankees won
But because God sent to me his only Son
And showed me treasures beyond worldly possessions
He taught me the meaning of true Agape love
And the value of bountiful devotion
So, today when I pray to my Heavenly Father above
They are not so much requests but words of appreciation
For I now know there is a place that was retained for me in Heaven
Jesus Christ in his wonderful glory has confirmed my reservation
Praise God
With age comes wisdom.
Blessings,
Christine
