The Lord thy God is truly a loving father of us one and all
He bursts with pride when we do good and disappointment when we fall
He chastens us when he sees us go stray
And encourages us to follow his will and to obey
But even his reprimands are done with love
For it is his wish that we be lifted above
Above the passions of the flesh to dwell on the fruits of the Holy Spirit
This is why he sent to us the living word and gave us ears that we might hear it.
The word came and became flesh in the form of Jesus Christ his only son
It was through his life, death on the cross and resurrection that our eternal life was won
Let us embrace the Son of God and the father of us, one and all
Give your heart and soul to him and answer, “Lord I am here,” when he comes to call
