I often find myself praying
In a grumbling way saying,
“Why me, Lord?
Why do I have such problems?
I worked hard to fulfill my dreams
But Jesus sometimes it seems
That you do not want to see my dreams fulfilled
I prayed for good health
I worked to attain wealth
But it seems neither of them is within reach
Please tell me Dear Lord
It sometimes seems you wield a heavy sword
And why have you sent devastation my way?
Why have I had to bear disappointment this day?
This is when his answer was short and straightforward
As one would expect coming from my savior and Lord
He answered, “The hard road is the way that leads to wisdom”
For Steel must be tempered or it will not be hard steel
Life gives both blessings and trials for each one to deal
But if you had only blessings how would your faith grow?
When your life needs corrections how would you know?
It is through your ability to accept what life sends your way
And how you resolve to follow my way and obey
That you grow morally and spiritually with each and every coming day
And when you stand before the Heavenly Gate in its glory you’ll say
“I thank you, Dear Lord for in your patience you showed me the way
And I praise you Dear Jesus and that’s why I pray
And honor your name for I rejoice for I am in Heaven this day
