In a manger in a barn laying in a bed of straw
Lay the baby Jesus Christ, the son of the creator of us all
Wise men travelled from afar to worship this child, Gods own son
They brought gifts to offer him for they knew with him their salvation was won
He grew to manhood and astonished them, teaching to them God’s own word
They praised him and they applauded him for he touched them and their illnesses were cured
When he rode into Jerusalem they waved palm branches and they cheered
But he was pure and they felt condemned for he was the word they feared
They didn’t recognize him as the master and they made him wear a crown of thorns
These people who had applauded was now found to be in their hearts the one to scorn
As he hung on that cross, Jesus cried, “Father forgive them, they know not what it is they do
It was that baby born in a manger who died for the redemption of me and you
There were few who troubled for most did not know him and those few gathered together that day to mourn
But this is why we celebrate his birth each December twenty-fifth, CHRISTmas morn
Merry Christmas
Tony
With love,
