The early morning sun rises awakening me from my rest
I pull the covers above head, my mind somehow still suppressed
 
I am somewhere between here and there, amid asleep and aware
I stretch and yawn with the coming of dawn as morning light reflects everywhere
 
My mind is free of thought and cares not for concept or notion
My body longs to sleep some more but alas the suns in motion
 
So I slowly pull myself out of bed and greet the morning sunrise
I dress and prepare myself for the coming day while rubbing sleep from my eyes
 
Another day has come dear Lord and I feel the need to live
I start my day with a morning prayer and all the praises I can give
 
I thank you, Lord for this; another day and for the morning sun
And I will thank you when the evening comes denoting my day is done
