The Echoes of Childhood

Childhood echoes

Reverberating clearly in the “now” of every day

Of love, of hate, what is right, and what is wrong

Too many unanswered questions

Leave young minds thinking the worst

We big folk must learn to be clearer

In mentoring, teaching, and loving,

For all that was done in our earliest years

Can haunt us as we “become”

Our children need to know without doubt

From the men and women in charge

That we love them enough to be honest

And true to the virtues of honor and truth

For without these they will be lost on their journey

And flounder in raising themselves

Back to court next monday... Thanks for this, the timing is plumb, the words are wise. I pray he realises. Sorry to be self indulgent.
But she has a gagging order that I can't write, be it poetry, or anything about a certain lovely person... Even though ********* enjoys it..

Beautifully, thoughtfully expressed, Karen, well done. One negative word can bring a child's world crashing down around them--I know.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

This is so true and expressed so beautifully! I love this and really "feel" it in my commitment to being the kind of mother my daughter needs me to be. We need to be good stewards of honor and truth so that these virtues can remain strong and clear, generation after generation. Your poem should be posted on every parent's wall.

I believe we all truly are products of our childhood environments, and the right teachers, role models, and mentors can make all the difference in the world.

Wise true words . You've captured it all. Many children learn what they live, live what they preceive. It is up to adults to help them see the the otherside , sadly that doesn't always happen tho, and the child remains lost in their own intrepratation of things............M

Splendid sentiments Karen! I agree with every word! I was truthful with my boys and expected the same from them and by the time they reached high school I knew I could trust them to be honorable. It is something parents should teach from the earliest age,and stick to it.
Superb poem!
