The Hearts Messengers

Hands are the messengers of what the heart does hold,

Lined hands that hold a cool cloth to fevered brow,

Fingers that grasp the tissue, so softly wiping tears as they fall.

Compassion and empathy are the messages clearly shown.

Hardened palms that know well a life of work,

By hands that have scratched a life from the earth.

Those same hands tenderly tuck small children into bed.

Strength and tenderness in balance his convictions of the heart.

Calloused fingers that dance upon musical strings,

And hands with fingers that write in rhythm all the heart has held.

To share the beauty seen all around and wisdom imparted, too,

The Artist and the dreamer’s hearts flow forth in lovely harmony.

A surgeon’s steady hand holds his scalpel ready,

His healing heart will guide him in each and every cut.

His hands are sure, encompassing his hearts desire to heal,

As from earliest remembering this is what he wanted to be.

Hands are the messengers of what the heart does hold,

For by what and how a person touches life,

They surely will be known. And as the saying goes we know,

By their deeds and actions their hearts will truly be known.

:)

One look at a person's hands for me and I would know whether that person can be trusted or not..and it tells me much-much more than that!!

Splendid imagery in this poem Karen! Also a fine tribute to the use of hands, and the actions of those whose deeds are a blessing.

Love is a beautiful gift from the heart to everyone with whom we share it. Through our good natured actions, we share the message of love with everyone who views our hearts.

Beautiful writing, Karen.

Thanks,
Jill

By their deeds and actions, their hearts will truly be known.

I firmly believe that, but it seems many of our deeds and actions today in our modern world will paint a very grim picture, of who we really were, for those that follow.

Great imagery in showing what love is all about. Touch someone next to you with tender loving care and maybe there will be hope for this Country.

Very beautiful piece here with such sharp crisp images, I read this and couldn't help but look down at my own calloused hands and my hardened fingertips from playing guitar, and then looking around at all the pictures of my grandkids I had to wonder were you looking at me and writing this until you came to the part about the surgeon. It is a lovely tribute and you did a great job of keeping it real. well done Karen.
