The desire to create something that lives on,

And to give life where before there was none,

Is evidenced in the wonders around us,

With last names attached for posterity.

With grandiose gardens and machines that purr,

Well written words which motivate and inspire

A newly discovered species, animal or plant,

Songs sung, scripts written, and instruments played,

Supreme performances that rock the world.

To create from ones heart and deep from within their being,

So that when their very short lives have run their courses,

That even then, when they lay in the earth,

Or drift as ashes in the wind,

There is something left of their precious time,

That lives on simply because they were the best of themselves.
