Artificial Happiness
Pills of artificial happiness,
And needles slid into veins,
Have stolen from all, the soul of a man.
He’s a son, a grandson, a husband, a dad,
A man who has the potential,
To contribute in such a positive way.
But the money generated
From all of the avenues traveled,
By prescription and illegal drugs,
Is far to necessary for this economy.
For policemen, pharmacists, physicians, and lawyers;
Educators, social workers, therapists and such,
All are paid with the millions of dollars,
Gleened from the pockets of home-made addicts.
These addicts come from all over the nation,
Our nation, the great USA,
The leader of all in addiction.
A government that talks the talk of “Just Say No.”
While walkng the walk of “the Rich get Richer.”
I happen to know and associate with many prescribed and illicit, and legal recreational drug users.
And for the most part, they hold down respected jobs, raise beautiful children, volunteer in society and reach their potential.
I get your point, and I respect your opinion.
Take care Tony

How right you are on this plight of our society. You've expressed it so well. Perhaps soon this will be over.
