I also take Losartan for my blood pressure, among many other meds. Getting older is hard but I think God I lived to be old. Many don't get there.

My dear Tom...have you been peeking into my med. cabinet? Yes, on 11 meds (not counting pain and sleep meds and Dulcolax :) Once on these, you pay a heavy "price" to get off them (that's the point!) So fortunate to have retirement perk of paid-for health + scripts ins. But I inherited my Father's genes...he died of heart attack at 34, his parents (Grandmother at 58 and Grandfather at 70) both died of heart attacks; Mother lived 'til 84 (good "country" genes)I've had quad-by-pass, 2 MIA (minor strokes), 4 surgeries (including lithotrypsi and laser) for kidney stones (still make them, but much smaller now, due to Allopurinol - been making 'em since '71 and have passed approx 3000); is it any wonder I now have kidney disease? You must read my poem "Without Pain".
I always enjoy your posts, and most always agree with what you have to say. THANKS for this one, too!! :-)

For me jury's out. Yes the price of drugs is obscene for the common life saving ones but the alternative makes our heirs smile.

My father died at 85 and my mother, at 89 is suffering from "all of the above" and taking, at last count 21 pills a day. We are all living a lot longer thanks to surgeries that fix of acute problems and pills that sidetrack long-term ones.

I really pity those who take pills for other reasons than health… And there are a lot of those.

I am noticing that with every year now, the reaper is cutting deeper.

Both my mom and dad's livers were damaged by the Cholestrol drug "Lipitor", and yet both died of cancer anyway at the end. We will all die because of one thing or another. You are right, no one gets out alive.
