The Search

We as part of the human race,

Seem to have a built in homing device.

For as we drift along, experiencing life,

We seem to be in constant search of something.

Some declare that we are searching for ourselves,

Or searching, simply for the meaning of it all,

Through all the pain, turmoil, strife and hate,

And the joy, happiness and love.

In that search one often goes astray,

As on life’s roads one takes a detour or gets lost.

For along the way there are many avenues and alleys,

Where one can get sidetracked as they journey.

But like homing pigeons, we will stumble back,

Onto the pathways that lead us home,

To the God center in each and every one of us,

Where the answers we search for reside.

Many journey through life and are never quite sure which path to choose. If we let our Lord , help, he'll guide us in the right direction. Great poem........M

Life is a journey that brings us on many paths, often their hues bring light to us, reminding us life is an experience of many shades. Enjoyed

A poem full of wisdom and truth, and in our hearts there's an empty space only God can fill, and unless He fill that the search will never end.

And they searched for forty years that promised land, thinking that it was surrounded by earthy frontiers, forgotten was the words of the Lord about the promised land being the Heavens!

In the end it's the road that leads us to heaven and as sinners we can get lost at times but the road to repentance is the one we have to take to enter into haven.

How wise you are, Karen. "Stairway To Heaven" alludes to this. Maybe those "detours" are roads we need to take to remind us of, or better enlighten us as to our path. Fine and sensitive write!

That is so true! We do seem to be driven constantly, yet ultimately find what we need has always been within reach. Well written, Karen!
