Oh the cruel, black heart of crude oil which has its stranglehold on the world! What a complete travesty. Here in the UK petrol at the pump stands now at roughly �3.30 a gallon - what, about $6 ??!! Is that right? (my maths is awful...) And yet, the roads continue to be more and more congested and the prediction is that the volume will be tripled in the years 2000-2015 - sounds at the very least impossible if not the absolute definition of Hell! BUT MIA CULPA!! I contribute, for my sins, with 3 cars in this household... but such is the lifestyle of mobility that we lead here and with no adequate transportation policies/implementations in place, how do things improve?! We prize our busy lives over and beyond health and safety these days - how short-sighted is THAT?! Thank you for your always provoking writes, TRASK. God bless. Kate xx

Trask, it could probably be sum up in one word� GREED! I can remember when I first started driving gasoline was 33 cents a gallon. It is absolutely unbelievable what the gas prices are today. I agree with Jude, and if everyone would stop driving even for one day, you better believe O.P.E.C. and the FEDS would wake up and make the necessary adjustments to the price of crude oil and make it more equitable for all to enjoy its benefits. Great topic, though I have not seen gas at $4.00 a gallon anywhere here in the North State. Gas taxes are a major issue when it comes to gas prices. Thanks for dealing with the topic.
