"Other Mens FAILURES Can Never Save You" -- Right On!!!I think your poem states the basic ideal "Be the best that you can be!" But, being an idealist in an imperfect world is mostly frustrating.

On the AD topic: I have long wished that AD would grow into its fine potential. This AD format would make an ideal writers' workshop, helping writers to perfect their work, helping them to ascend to publication quality, rather than only being a happy social club. For example, AD could easily publish books which would leave Poetry.com crying in our dust. We certainly have the resources, totally untapped. AD is a superb forum for diverse readers and writers, and it could be so very much more.

But life is like that. I have interacted with people everywhere that I have lived (including 55 years in mid and southern California). Most of the people like to gripe about life-conditions, playing "ain't it awful," but we rarely find anyone who is doing something to make it better. Bless the few who do.
