Dark days,
As the Storm of Life struck like a phantom,
Sweeping aside the strength,
Blowing away the hopes,
Of a Dreamer
Once strong, confident and proud!

Resolve hardened by years of poverty,
Education and hard work,
Preparations for survival,
Renown in glory years,
Were no match
To the stealth and fury of the Storm of Life!
 
Pleas to the Divine,
For compassion, for consideration
Of past fine deeds for lesser brethren,
Went unheard; or so it seems.
Or the Master is accounting
The unsaid sins of the Dreamer

Helpless, heart bleeds
For a beloved guardian in the ICU of a far country,
For a sick brother pleading to be healed in a far country,
For an unemployed soul mate‘s struggles to care for helpless innocents.
And longing filled the days
To commune with supportive ancestors resting in eternal peace!

Down on his knees with nowhere to go,
For mercy, he solemnly begged.
A stray dog wagging its tail in friendship and gratitude,
Small birds chirping by the window, rousing him in his sleep;
And a radiant smile of a newborn child,
The responses the Divine gave.
