Powerful poem! My cousin was told by her doctor that she had congestive heart failure and the doc won't even write her a prescription because she doesn't have insurance!! Yet, that Octo-mom will have everything given to her in this life, including her medical care costs.
A powerful poetic commentary on one of the more astounding conundrums of our technological times: Does "Just becasue one can" mean that one should? Very often, the answer will/or should be no. Yet one can't help marveling at the power of sheer athletic endurance required, for better or for worse, to carry eight children. Male that I am, I double up with cramps and want to cry just thinking about it.
As usual, write on. There are also puppy mills that turn out zillions of designer doggies in horrid conditions to be unleashed on a busy urban/suburban population looking for faithful friends they have no clue how to take care of and need the Dog Whisperer to understand the neurotic behavior they've imposed.
Hear! Hear! I am with you totally on this, Leland. It is another example of the insanity rampant on this planet. I am disgusted with this excuse for a "mother." She should have asked Mother Earth's advice. Love and peace to you,
I agree with everything you say. I really enjoyed the way you addressed this situation. I cannot for the life of me figure how a woman could have six children and want more? No, it doesn't make sense. However, it is not the children's fault, and though this is an outrage, I hope they don't have to carry the stigma of their foolish mother.
This woman should give up some of her kids to women willing and wanting to love them instead of taking advantage of the system like she's doing! Shame on her!!

Heartrending slap of reality, right between the eyes!
There is no fair share about this situation. It is insanity running amok. The doctor who implanted that many embryos should have to either support these infants through life or lose her license. This goes against all ethical guidelines for implantation. I only wish there was an adult somewhere in this situation. Excellent write. Liz
I don't know what this woman is doing with all the babies and children she give births to. I hope for the children's sake she will find kindness in her heart to give some up for adoption to childless couples who are willing to love the children and give them proper care.
Children who are born into this world SHOULD receive proper love and care.
I'm not really sure of the couples' intention, what do they intend to do with the children???
I hear you. This story, at the beginning, was miraculous: eight babies born! And then the ugly details that she has six others, ages 2 to 7, all "conceived" through in vitro fertilization! The doctor ought to be prosecuted! My thoughts penned in my "Suffer, the Little Children", in part:
" ... as long as he doesn't have to/take care of them and the State will/pay, he'll do what he can to give her/what she wants: more kids and a/ name for herself: Mother of the Year."

Plenty of couples who want children and can't have them and this baby making machinery run amok: shame!
Democratic Dilemmas and Divine Inspiration examines the significance or relevance of the idea that the U.S. Constitution was, as many believe, divinely inspired. How much did that belief matter to founders of the nation and how much does it matter no
