Is It Still Here?

Something is in my head and I can’t seem to think
Why am I constantly trying to deal with this?

Something is in my head and I can’t seem to think
Why am I constantly trying to deal with this?
It’s not a voice
It’s not a vision
It’s a thought and it seems your in it,
see there...you did it again...

I keep thinking over and over
Why in the world am I always reiterating you?
It’s not a good thing
It’s not a bad thing
It’s just an idea and it appears your part of it...
Now Look there ...I know I can rid you...

One time it just came into my mind
Why is this notion stirring so much commotion?
It’s not an impulse
It’s not a desire
It’s just an opinion and obviously
you have a share in it
Check it out...I’m getting better...

You are rhyme
I can’t compose without you
You’re playing tag
and without you I'm not it
You’re a verse
so simply conversed
but you bother me...
See...your trying to return...

It seems I can’t even talk without you
It seems I include you in all my conversations
It seems you’ve taken over every composition
and your getting on my last nerve...
Go away...

So, I think I’m going to try and live without you
Just write you off all my work
Throw you out of all my verse
and then everyone won’t think
I’ve gone off the deep end...
There...it’s gone!

Or is it?

Very interesting poetry Kim. While I was reading this all the hundreds of things in my mind that I wish I could get rid of were haunting, my dad for one, when he said, "I don't think you're my son."
Everything dumb everyone has ever said that affected me, like "what makes you think you can write a book." aND the beat goes on, goodluck on getting rid of whatever. I've learn to live with everything haunting. It's not the thought, it's what a person does after the thought that makes them the person, good or bad, happy or sad,

Kimmy, you have an absorbing capacity to express a deep emotional state of being allowing your reader to share a personal experience with the distinctive character of honest, narrative expression ...

You touched on something all writers deal with especially poets, I think.;-) This is excellent work Kimmy! Thanks for sharing...ET

Hmm, reminded of the apostle Paul struggling to rid himself of the thorn in his flesh but we are not told what it was. He had to live with it. Some things stick in our head like tunes we dislike but cannot help humming them or hearing them silently within.
The use of the second person in this poem clearly tells me that you are constantly engaging with this entity. Contending with it rather. Has it gone yet, as I write this?

Kimmy, I enjoyed this well written, light and yet serious tone of this poem. And, young lady, not for one minute do I believe There...it’s gone!
