Whatever they were, they rolled off the docks,
Then right to the dealer and into truck stocks.
They were selling like hotcakes. Their sales were at max,
Being sold here as trucks, but paid no truck tax.
The tariffs were set up so that we could compete
With foreign truck makers; as such quite a feat,
But they hit on a design for a truck as a car
That, saleswise, our makers did feather and tar.
So legal minds set out and to verbalize their task,
Was to make sure that trucks, as cars couldn't mask.
A committee was formed; collective minds there in focus
To end import problems; the hocus and pocus.
The committee resolved it; came up with a solution
And ended the problem of rampant truck polution,
The sum and substance of their exercise with words?
Was to turn buyers around; bring them back in herds!
We were told if it looks, walks, and quacks like a truck
Then that's what it is. And its reality couldn’t duck.
So the lawyers have spoken and done so with unction
To define "what it is" has to do with its function.
