Steering Passion's Yacht

by Charles Keller — Read all 159 poems by Charles Keller

Tuesday, November 7, 2006

Under the deep, dark
blue midnight sky
as stars glimmer
and the half moon
glides slowly
in a high, steady arc
from one horizon
to the other,
my hands grip tightly
the vessel's wheel
steering her through
an undulating sea.
I doubt that
anyone can feel
what I feel
as the waves slide
quietly beneath
in a series of thrusts
and withdrawals
making my sea legs
buckle at the knees
until they finally find
a balancing stance
to hold her steady
and on course
to the edge of
passion's world.

A very sensual write. Not quite a "cold shower" piece, but romantic nonetheless! :-) Blessings, Michelle
