And the Word was with God and the Word was God. Blessed be the Word whether I feel Him in the new grass of spring or in the Happy New Year.
Gray-black and dark
before the beginning of light,
the abyss opens wide,
and the winds
of time and eternity
are pulling to the edge.
The plunge bodily gripping
for newfound plateau end,
all spirit tightening together,
called by the Tongue of Fire
with the knowledge
of all that is
even to the last darkness
of mortal life.
Be still and hear
the power of the Word
oh man who can only hint
at full aspiration.
There is much to reflect upon in your verses here, Jerry. Thank you. Coincidentally, I also have a poem entitled "Abyss" posted here at AD. Love and peace to you,
This one made me think...and I'm pondering still...
It took me in several different directions...the dark before the dawn (both literally and metaphorically), and the walk we all must take when we die... etc...
I love the first stanza...
The whole poem reminded me of a poem I wrote entitled "To the Brink", maybe because my mind was where your poem led me when I wrote it...

This is gorgeous, Jerry ~ such ponderings are of the wise ones among us...I love this side of your writing. It is so spiritual and mystical. How lovely to be able to write the wonderful stories that emanate from your voice of the heartland, and then write the amazing poetry that emanates from the Voice of Your Heart Land...
Heard on talk radio a commentator say God was from the beginning and he will be the ending. I think this is a wonderful thought and know it to be true as your write above is so true.
This book consists of a 150 pages of Christian poetry about the end of time and the Second coming of Jesus Christ not as a servant but as a King, the King of kings. To bring righteousness and peace to the earth and restore the government of God! Peac
I love your deep thinking (profound) wisdom!
This is intensely deep!
WRITE ON!
