Cello speaks in melodious mystery As Yo Yo Ma stokes it lovingly Rhapsodic sounds sing the notes Along with Itzhak Perlmans violin To John Williams glorious music Soundtrack composed for Memoirs Of A Geisha
Through it one is taken on a journey Of pure pleasure into another world The entire orchestra is outstanding It had to be, to match the opulent film One of the most visually beautiful And enchanting movies I've ever seen
As I enter the world of the Geisha I see a life of total dedication It takes hard work and dicipline To become facile in the arts required Getting dressed and applying make-up Takes hours of study and application Learning how to be pleasing as you serve Taking lessons in artistic performance Dance, musical instruments, voice lessons All are part of the Geisha's repertoire
They have to belong to a special house One where you answer to the host mother You are not free to choose who you entertain Geisha's are not prostitutes as some believe They are highly trained in the arts and paid To be pleasing in companionship and service
I highly recommend this movie if you like sumptuous beauty and a good story with fantastic acting, and a splendid soundtrack!
You've certainly whetted my appetite, Eileen, with this beautiful poetic review of film, music and story, told with grace and compassion. Makes me desire to walk a mile in this person's shoes... TY LOL Kate xx

You make it sound more interesting than even the movie trailer did!
Well done, Critic Eileen! :)
Mariah and I went to see it the day it debu'd and I was glued to the screen. Between the costumes, scenery, music and passions from the Orient I was satisfied entirely. Your creative verse here makes me want to see it again.
Thanks!
Susan
Thank you for the recommendation and this cool poem. I've been telling myself to click the pay for view to watch Geisha. Perhaps I'll do so tonight. ~~NOrdette
