Yes ... I believe the sword we wield in the battle is the Holy Bible tempered by the wisdom and knowledge and understanding we recieve in prayer. There has to be balance.

There are many opinions below, all honestly written ... poetic licence, emptiness and ignorance, never getting revelation, but the worst, I believe, are those megaliths of the scornful intelligensia that hide under a shroud of verisimilitude thinking they know better than everyone else because of their societal accomplishments and then presume to speak for God concerning His physical reaction and state of being because everyone else is unelightened and ignorant.

The Creator is not interested in how intelligent we are, or how gifted we are, or how opinionated we are, or how beautiful or ugly we are ... He is only interested in our willingness to be obedient to His words.

In this area intelligence and accomplishment work against faith.

I agree with Sir Peter entirely ... we do have a moral obligation to communicate from our heart, and also from the well of knowledge and understanding we have been given, and do so honestly and in love.

In Koran we have a whole chapter that speaks of poets. In some of its verses it says: Poets dive into depths of different genres and say whatever they emotions dictate to them except those who are God fearing. Excellent poem. GBQ

What an incredibly powerful message you convey with these words - leaves one with much to contemplate. A sword is double edged...maybe that could be seen as meaning and inference? I draw much from the writings of Paolo Coelho - he says, "The Warrior of Light has the sword in his hands." I think you have encapsulated that here. Really superb composition Eileen. Panda :)

Everyone speaks for God and most remain clueless as they thump away. He is having a heart attack at the things done in His Name.

I think "we" writers have a tendency of using words inappropriately quite a lot, wherher it be the sword of God or the word hero or the word starving children, we as a whole like to overdramatize when the truth is more powerful simply because it is the truth.

From Genesis to Revelation, I have never found a word of "God" ~ but I have been told by the slave Masters of the Greek-Roman empire that they are there... So, the slave Masters had the swords made of steel, and the TRIBUNAL OF THE INQUISITION.

It is about time we should know the words we read.

though agreeing with the basis of this conclusion, this is true only if the poet is using the bible as a reference ... being a poet, one assumes the role of seeking personal as well as unique definitions to traditional forms of expression and has the liberty of redefining these forms of expression according to the inspired interpretation of its original intent ... lets say, the sword of the spirit can be the vehicle that conquers the adversities of human indifference and suffering or the mechanism slaying the conventional perceptions of the human heart ... my point is, poetic liberty is utilized according to the fundamental essence and atmosphere of the poem itself and can legitimately redefine whatever its so desires as long as the poem adheres the continuity of the image's design ...

I am awed by your power with words when so many forget that God's sword IS His word...not words he whispers to others for them to attempt to credit themselves with His word... but HIS words, so confidential between Him and me and Him and others. We've been sisters of His word for more years than we really know. I'm on the same wave length as you with this pen and I do understand your message.
