Born into a good,modest,  home
raised on God, Family, Country
Fire within to find excitement

bird free from cage wayward went
forgetting that she was heaven sent

finding new world a thrill a minute
expunging mind from all good within it

Eat drink and be merry, live for self
put everything else on a shelf

until you fall from grace
forgetting a saviors face

marriage came with abuse, children no
excuse many years of suffering felt deserved

finally  divorce

loss of self-esteem, angry with the world
another swing through the hedonist way

But grace would not let her go

into a life of curtains torn
sorely dreading every morn

until

Finally the message was received
only one reason a heart should grieve
if you lose sight of who Creator is

We wend our way through lifes busy hours
do we know how much of it we waste

Only when we begin to learn that every second is
precious because it is God given for us to learn
of Him

We are all created to be about our Creators business when we give Him first thoughts everything else will  fall into its proper place...

I've heard we chose these lessons in life and when we've learned we always come back. Good write. I think the wayward always find their way. Lady J

It's been a long journey for some of us Sis. Your poem and it's words seems like something I could've written.

...some carry heavy crosses, others, heavy chains, and it is not consolation today to be assured that today's torturers will be tomorrows torturees, because retribution doesn't lessen the pain.
Faith, in other hands, do alleviate by raising the spirit well above of the pain's domain.
Anguished writing but a well done one.

Nice one, Eileen. We waste so much of our precious time.

A good account of how God pursues us, and loves us throughout our lives. Sometimes we are blind to His presence, but when we finally give in and acknowledge Him as God and Lord, we'll find that He was there all the time. Makes me think of the Bible verse: "While we were still sinners, He died for us."
Good writing, Eileen

Wise write, if we put Him first the remaining will fall into place! Inspiring!

A sad plight of many but if they turn to God, as you say, everything will fall into place. Great inspirational write for the many abused in this world.

The last two lines hit the spot! You have no idea how welcome your words -- these words, are today. We've been so mistaken to think it was all about us; it isn't.
