I wrote this because of some nasty comments I heard about the lenten observance

Soon twill be the season,of renewal,a time to repent, reform, renew,  be cleansed of all that defames. deceives. and defiles

Some call it a religious rite,and though lent is so,in part, as created by the Catholic church, it also is akin to what always took place in the spring season of new birth

Many cast dispersions on those who observe it as a Christian rite, because it calls for fasting, prayer, and other self denials, instead of self indulgences

Though I find it ironic they don't mind fasting and self-denial in the name of beauty,or other causes,but shy away from anything done in the name of God

It is short sightedness that motivates people to do all they can to make their appearance top priority,and covet all the compliments on how they look, yet forget their soul allowing it to languish for lack of care

However, if you don't observe lent, that's your business and I care not,  I only ask that you  allow those who do observe it, to have the same privilege
