He stood before the gates of holiness
in awe with head bowed he confessed
unable to fathom what he had learned
toward this unknown his heart yearned
Seeking guidance for his new wisdom
how to best use it in the days to come
unschooled in any of the Creator's ways
being a non-believer for most of his days
Told to put aside for a moment all he knew
listen to the new spirit within, as it grew
to let it soar above all that he had known
allowing his oversoul to become full blown
His spirit would guide him and be his lead
prompting him things to do, books to read
in time he would learn how in silence to hear
the quiet voice of Creator as He drew near
He was overwhelmed by this new insight
he humbly determined to learn of the light
a vast change from the person he was before
his new life would inspire others evermore~
And thus the power of poetic revelation shines more brilliantly with each line of A NEW LIGHT. What moves this reader most about the poem is the convincing metaphysical blend of human folly and spiritual transcendence--put together they create a poem truly capable of "inspiring others evermore."
