A loving and kind message, Eileen. I'm of the opinion that those who need this lesson most have not been effected by the recession. They continue to live their six-figure lives without thought for the majority's quality of life. I do see that folks like myself are living more conservatively, though, and that is not a bad thing! Wonderfully wise words, Eileen! I think each of us should make a thorough review of our priorities, past actions, and our present situation. Then, take responsibility for our personal actions (or non actions) by making the necessary changes to be a more responsible, spirit filled and loving, human being.

How good it makes me feel to read your words, Eileen: Positive and Uplifting. Too many have been "over-plowing" the fields for much too long, and don't even know how to temper their wants. We now have the opportunity to realize our "needs", which begins with re-acquainting ourselves with our Creator and His gifts to us...Appreciation comes to mind. Well done, dear friend!

I have to say that I whole-heartedly agree with you! Personally, I know that I don't feel the need to "stay up with the Jones'" It is a nice feeling... Hee, hee...
It is nice to be able to concentrate on my own family and not feel bad when I tell my kids that something is out of our price range.
Getting back to the basics is really what it is all about. I truly believe that the Lord wants us to do just that...Thanks for sharing these thoughts with us, Eileen.

I hope that the ones on board the sinking boats have the sense to accept help or ask for it and don't just shake their shoulders with fatalism letting the water go over their heads.
This is a situation of sink or swim, nobody can do it for them.

"With God on our side we can always cope." No truer words could be spoken, Eileen. I have not seen a greater example of how people are really pitching in and pulling together in these tough times than the example I saw, soon after our Hurricane Ike ordeal. I live in a neighborhood where, for the most part, people wave and talk on occasion, but generally, we keep to ourselves. That is, until something bad happens to any of us. Then, we get together, cook food, help clean the house, etc. and get through it, together.

God is good, indeed. Thank you for this well-written reminder.
