Falling into fearful love
the language of a shaking leaf
unknown – how to express
the whirlwind of helplessness inside --- ?
Calling for an explanation
behind a rainy window
muted religion of question marks
in my belly flowering thoughts
mislead, reinterpreted, aghast
Reversed time ticking clock
the world turning against the tide
images from the past
as I dramatize and soothe
those phantoms of yesterday
And back to now
I walk embarrassingly empty-handed
to your vision in me
not much
nothing much
terrified of falling
into fearless love --
And tearful, commiseratingly so
yet ashamed of it
ready to walk the lonely path
avoiding (not so carefully) the edges
of my fearful, of that fearful
word --
And
through the cracks of that word
pieces recomposed on some ancient floor
where doubts meet my religion
postmodern a little bit of everything
still wondering where the cement came from
and seminal impression of what there is behind
or beyond: that unified vision
holds me up up up
I cannot do it yet
but I sense there is a way
of binding
of rising into strengthening love.
The tone of vulnerability in this poem is quite magical. It's refreshing in the sense that I, as the reader, have a chance to learn from your reflection; to look back at my own yesterdays. Reflecting on the past is part of the cycle, and I like how you show that importance to today. Excellent. Haunting, Axilea.

passion, vulnerability and hope make love possible ... honest and well written ...
Axilea, add my name to the cheers, as much for the quality
of writing displayed in this passionate poem as for the ultimate
resolution to your quest for genuine love. -gene.

the fear of being vulnerable, the desire to lose oneself in ocean's of passion, rivers of lust, strangers in the darkness of lonely nights, push, pull, push, pull......yeah, this has it all. great poetry!!
Yeah, I agree with all the writes below me. This is full of positive, upward energy. Grow little sapling, grow,Grow,GROW! Look at us all rooting for the good kind o' love. You draw us into her world with words of such vulnerablity, like "shaking leaf" and "helplessness", "muted religion of question marks". Upon those, you add little confessions, like your misled thoughts, embarrassment of being empty-handed, the fear of "falling into fearless love" (great play on words, and delicious alliteration), shame, and semi-wreckless avoidance of that "word". So we feel your vulnerability. And because of that, that last stanza feels bracing-- so strong-- so positive, that instead of sheltering, we stand up and cheer for you. That's some Mighty Godly energy. "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7) No question marks there. --Charlie

"Reversed time ticking clock / the world turning against the tide"
Getting too late perhaps to fall in love and go through all of the emotional pull and tug that is love, no matter the wonderful Madison Avenue concept of love ever-after with no cracks and dirty diapers and bills.
Still . . . We continue to want to want to want to please let us have this perfect love.
That is the sense I got from your "Word." Probably all wet, but still . . .
Lovely Axilea.
